Epic Primitive Skills Experience
June 21 @ 7:00 pm - June 23 @ 1:00 pm$100.00 – $200.00
Join us for an epic primitive skills experience in the woods of Kentucky. Coursework will be led by primitive skills technologist and author Doug Meyer of North Carolina. NRS Director Craig Caudill will also be leading animal tracking, and primitive wilderness navigation if time allows.
- Flintknapping to make edged tools
- Cherokee Blow Gun Making
- Blow Gun Dart Making
- Animal Tracking
- Wilderness Navigation and Exploring without modern equipment.
We are only taking 5-10 students for this class. Sign up early to secure your spot.
The class will be held near the Red River Gorge in Menifee County Kentucky. Exact location will be given to those who register for the course.
Portions of this class will be held in and around historic rock shelters known to be locations that Native American and Frontiersman of Kentucky utilized or traveled through.
Participants should feel free to bring modern equipment for sleeping and food preparation. This class will be a camping trip studying the skills, rather than a full immersion into the subject matter. It is a great way to introduce beginners to these incredibly necessary and enriching skills.
Learn the way of our ancestors!
PLEASE NOTE: There will be difficult to moderate terrain, if time allows us to explore the rock shelters. If you do not wish to participate in the exploration aspects of the class, you can get more time with Doug Meyer on the specifics of flint knapping and blowguns.
