RRG Mind Collective

December 8, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

There are many entities that are interested in the proper use of and recreational opportunities that the Red River Gorge has to offer.  A conversation was started recently about those that are interested in working towards curbing the current destruction of that particular place.  The hope is that the mindset works elsewhere as well.  We are calling upon interested parties to come together and discuss, but more importantly, begin or continue working together in a more systematic fashion.  We must all recognize that what is currently being done is not working.  Topics currently on the table to be discussed:

  • How to better inform/teach visitors about LNT ethics.  What is currently being done is not working.
  • How to teach visitors on basic trekking and camping ethics.
  • How to lost-proof visitors so they can enjoy the area without the need for SAR to direct or come get them out.
  • What role, if any, law enforcement can play in this.
  • How best to encourage social media use.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THIS MEETING If YOUR GOAL IS TO COMPLAIN. THE PURPOSE OF THIS MEETING IS TO FIND SOLUTIONS.  We all know there are problems, and the current solutions are not working.

This list will grow.  If you have found this information on facebook then please list in the comments of the event any additional topics of importance.  If you have found this elsewhere then please send an email to info@naturereliance.org so we can include your solutions.
